Soft Launch: The Woman Behind a Business (and now this blog)

“We do not need to operate according to the idea of a predetermined program for our lives.”

-John O’Donohue

Welcome to the world of a woman who owns a plant shop, with unrequited dreams of meandering like Mary Oliver, and finding a love to endure this lifetime. After many failed attempts to write a blog for the shop itself, I’ve decided to launch this secret blog about my life. The life that happens behind the scenes, driven by a deep desire for wild places, wild love, and a deep fear of setting down roots.

I used to want to write a prolific blog. One that is full of insight and wisdom, that uncovers the meaning of the universe (somehow). To write that kind of blog, you have to believe that you have a way of seeing the world that is prolific. That your brain has something to offer that is universally understood in a way that is different than how it is being understood. A younger version of myself  believed that I had this secret power, and that somehow that secret power could turn into a career. I blogged about traveling, and heartache, and the ache of stillness, and quite frankly, was all over the board.

Today, I sit here 38,000 feet in the sky with the simple intention of writing. I no longer need the blog to be my income, which gives me the liberation of writing about whatever I want. This blog has no greater purpose. No deeper meaning. It is simply the place I will come to collect the world the way I do, for me and for you.

Welcome. Here goes nothing.

Literally.
